It is definitely worth visiting the village of Giethoorn with its characteristic arched bridges and thatched farms. To do this, follow the Ds. T.O. Hylkemaweg along the water. Giethoorn is also called the 'Green Venice'. The village was founded in the 13th century by monks from the Mediterranean region. Giethoorn has a lot to offer: ranging from a mineral and fossil museum to a museum farm, shell gallery and a number of traditional punt yards.
