Blokzijl is a town rich in history and unique due to its varied recreational offerings. In the Golden Age, Blokzijl was a thriving trading city on the Zuiderzee. During this period, the wealthy merchants gave Blokzijl such a characteristic cityscape: the centrally located harbor basin, surrounded by buildings with many beautiful facades and the high water cannon. The museum Het Gildenhuys presents an interesting picture of the relationship between Blokzijl and the water.
