Southern Flevoland is the fourth and so far the last reclaimed area or land reclamation in the sea in the Netherlands. The polder was created between 1959 and 1968. With the reclamation, an additional 430 km² of land was added to the Netherlands. This polder is part of the Dutch province of Flevoland.
Almere is the largest city in the polder. Near the Markermeer are the Oostvaardersplassen, a large nature reserve.
