The Blue Tea House

On the morning of Saturday, May 3, 1997, Amsterdam was shocked by a brutal murder in Vondelpark. The 55-year-old Piet Bosters, operator of the famous Amsterdam hospitality establishment Het Blauwe Theehuis, was found dead in his business. It is suspected that this was a pure robbery murder. The murderers made off with loot of just over 13,000 euros (then still guilders). Meanwhile, the property has been sold to new owners. There are suspicions that Piet Bosters must have been killed by someone he knew. The main clue for that theory: the absence of signs of a break-in and the knowledge that Uncle Piet would never have let a stranger in. That means the perpetrator must have had access to a key to the front door. At one time, Bosters' stepdaughter Wanda and her boyfriend Wilson were arrested. Justice assumes that Wilson informed Russian criminals about the money and jewelry that were in the Theehuis. But neither Wilson nor the Russians have ever been convicted in the case because the evidence has always been too weak. And the Russian whom justice believed they had enough evidence against has fled to his homeland.
