Near De Punt is the place where South Moluccan terrorists hijacked a train in 1977. In 2008, filming took place at the same location for a movie about this hijacking. The hostage-taking lasted a staggering 20 days. During the hijacking, 6 hijackers and 2 hostages were killed. There was also an earlier hijacking in Wijster, near Zwolle.
