The Blaeu printing company published the maps of Amsterdam during the heyday of the VOC. They produced the Atlas Maior or Great Atlas which you can see today in the Maritime Museum. Joan Blaeu brought it in various editions and languages on the market in 1662. The deluxe edition of the atlas cost to current standards around 200,000 euros. For centuries it was a popular gift from governments and large corporations. The Atlas was often stored in a special cabinet, a Blaeu cabinet.
