Chaam (pronunciation 'Kaam' [kam]?, Brabantian: Koam [kɒm]?) is a village in the municipality of Alphen-Chaam, in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located between Ulvenhout and Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog. The largest town nearby is Breda. The population on November 30, 2015, is 4,060. Chaam was an independent municipality until 1997. Although Chaam is surrounded by agricultural land, one can find several extensive nature reserves at some distance, namely the Chaamse forests in the northeast, the Strijbeekse Heide in the west, and the estate of Hondsdonk in the northwest, as well as the nature reserve of Chaamse beken.
