Oosterhout is a village in the municipality of Overbetuwe in the Dutch province of Gelderland, which borders the area of the same name in the municipality of Nijmegen.
The village of Oosterhout originated in the early Middle Ages on a stream ridge, an old riverbank of the Waal. In 1809 and 1820, Oosterhout was hit by dike breaches, after which the current village center was rebuilt again, this time in a northern direction, at the height of the current village street.
