Meeden is a village in the municipality of Midden-Groningen in the province of Groningen, Netherlands.The village was first mentioned in 1391 as de Medum, and means "settlement near the hay lands". Meeden is a road village which developed on the sandy ridge on the border with the Oldambt and the peat colonies. It was founded in the 11th century as a satellite of the former village Eexta, but moved southwards during the 15th century.
