Tram line Dutch Open Air Museum

The Dutch Open Air Museum tram line is a normal-track tram line on the grounds of the Dutch Open Air Museum in Arnhem.

The electrified tram line with a mains voltage of 600 Volts was built in 1996. Rails, switches, the overhead line and the substation partly came from the temporary Floriade tram line in Zoetermeer. A depot was built for the trams, a replica of the Westervoortsedijk tram depot destroyed in 1944 during the Battle of Arnhem. The 1.75-kilometre-long tram line is single-track, with the tram running counterclockwise and passing six stops. The ring line has a turning triangle and a catch-up track at the main entrance. In order to facilitate exchange with other Dutch tram companies, the tram line was not built in cape track like the former Arnhem tram, but in standard gauge. The construction of tram line and overhead lines was partly realized with the help of RET, HTM, GVB and Strukton. Thanks to the ring line, visitors who are not able to walk can easily visit the parts of the museum that are far from the main entrance.
