Kasteel Strijthagen is the last completely intact noble estate on the territory of the Dutch-Limburg municipality of Landgraaf, located in the Strijthagerbeekdal, near the core of Schaesberg and the hamlet of Oude Hopel. About 800 meters to the southwest lies the farm Overstehof.
The main building is situated on the bank of several ponds fed by the Strijthagerbeek. It was built in the 18th century on the site of an older castle. The walls of the main building consist of so-called 'speklagen', i.e. alternating layers of brick and natural stone (marble) which are relatively common in Limburg, also found in castle De Bongard and the nearby castle Schaesberg. The castle complex furthermore includes the classical steward's house, the 17th-century (1690) white plastered outer bailey (also with classical elements), the watermill called Strijthagermolen, and the stable of much more recent date, all of which have the status of national monument. Both the main building, the steward's house, and the gatehouse of the outer bailey are topped with a mansard roof, which is also the case in Limburg at castle Puth and castle Raath.
