Grote of St. Catharijnekerk

This church was the largest church in Holland, but was never completed. Construction began in 1417. In 1456 there was a great fire and in 1482 the money ran out and construction stopped. Only the ship was ready. Brielle is recognizable from afar by the 57-metre-high, blunt tower of St. Catharijnekerk. After 1572 this parish church came into Protestant hands. Today, the PKN congregation worships there.
