The town hall in 's-Hertogenbosch is located at the Markt in the city center of the North Brabant capital. The architect of the town hall was Jan Derkennis, who was also involved in the construction of the St. John's Cathedral. The building dates back to the second half of the 14th century. Since 1366, the city council of 's-Hertogenbosch has been seated at this location at the Bossche Markt. At that time, the town hall was purchased by the authorities. In 1372, the city clock was hung. It is believed that the installation of this clock marked the completion of the construction. In 1463, a large part of the town hall was destroyed by fire, after which it had to be renovated. In 1481, a building on the left side of the town hall was also purchased, which was equipped with a gable and turretlets. The renovation of the town hall was completed around 1530, during which it was provided with a staircase and the cross vaults of the council chambers.
