Hackfort Castle was already mentioned in 1392. It started as a residential tower and was largely destroyed by Spanish troops in 1586 during the Eighty Years' War. The canals were filled in. The castle is in good condition and is beautifully situated in the middle of forests and meadows.
The area is freely accessible, thanks to the current owner the Association for the Conservation of Natural Monuments.
