In the peat meadow area between Vlist, Polsbroek and Hoenkoop lies the Kadekruis. It is a place where 3 quays come together.
In the 12th and 13th centuries, the marshy areas in the Lopikerwaard were mined. The terminus of a mining area (a polder) was bordered by a quay. The function of the quay was to stop the influx of water outside the mined area. At the quay cross, the different mining directions came together.
The Kadekruis is an abandoned place that can only be reached on foot via one of the quays.
