The legendary flagship of the Holland-America Line has recently been permanently moored as a museum and hotel in the heart of the Rotterdam port, Katendrecht.
Built in Rotterdam, the Rotterdam was launched on September 13, 1958, under the watchful eye of tens of thousands of Rotterdammers, and was christened by Queen Juliana before being launched from the Verolme shipyard in Schiedam. After a name change in 1997 (to Rembrandt) and spending the last years tethered in the Bahamas due to a declining cruise market, the Rotterdam is back in its home port, much to the delight of many Rotterdammers, after a thorough restoration.
Start this route at the Lido Restaurant on the Panoramic Deck with a cup of coffee and a magnificent view of the port and the Euromast. There is ample (paid) parking near the ship, but you can only pay with Chipknip!
