The Zwartenbergse Mill is a drainage mill from 1889 located in the village of Leur, municipality of Etten-Leur. The owner is the Brabantse Delta Water Board. The mill is a round stone ground sailer, which replaced a burned-down mill from 1721 that had burned down in 1888. Initially, there was a plan to build a steam pumping station, but the fire insurance would pay out a significantly lower amount in that case than for replacing it with a new windmill.
The Zwartenbergse Mill drains the De Haagsche Beemden polder, currently on a voluntary basis. The water board restored the mill internally and externally in 2006/7.
The mill can pump a maximum of 80 cubic meters of water per minute.
The Zwartenbergse Mill is open for visits on every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM and by appointment.
