The windmill De Hoop is located at Havendijk 2 in Harderwijk. The post mill was built as a replacement for an earlier mill from 1911 on Strandboulevard, which burned down in 1969. Although the plan for reconstruction at a different location came quickly, the rebuilding took a long time due to various circumstances. For the new mill De Hoop, the hull of the Molen van Reerink from Oldenzaal was used. This was purchased in 1993 by the Harderwijk Mill Foundation. The mill was rebuilt by the company Vaags from Aalten. In 1998, De Hoop was put into operation, and in 1999 it was opened to the public.
