Park de Wezenlanden or Wezenlandenpark is a part of the Assendorp district and is located in the Wezenlanden neighborhood in Zwolle. The area lies between the Groot Wezenland, the Zwolle-Almelo canal, and the old Assendorperdijk.
The district owes its name to the fact that the land was allocated on December 13, 1591, to the guardians of orphans in Zwolle. Until 1932, this was marshy land that was affected by the tidal action of the Zuiderzee. With the damming of this sea, this tidal action disappeared and preparations could begin for making the land suitable for construction. In 1950, the first buildings appeared according to a design by urban planner Samuel Josua van Embden. Earlier plans by Willem Marinus Dudok were deemed unrealistic and dismissed by the municipal government. Between 2006 and 2011, the park was thoroughly renovated, including the establishment of a flower garden, a new skate park, and a new basketball and panna court. The contours of the park were also adjusted, and the dike along the park was raised by 40 cm.
