The lift bridge Boskoop in Boskoop is part of a set of three lift bridges, the other two of which are located in Alphen aan den Rijn and Waddinxveen. The lift bridges provide a road connection over the Gouwe. The Boskoop lift bridge dates back to 1935 and was built by steel company de Vries Robbé & Co. The bridge is a national monument. The bridge is remotely operated by Bridge Control Center Steekterpoort in Alphen aan den Rijn.
Due to the very central location of the Boskoop lift bridge, it holds an important place in the streetscape of the village center of Boskoop. In the early 1990s, during renovations of the lift bridge, measures were taken to significantly improve safety for cyclists by adding sidewalks on both sides of the bridge. This created space on the main roadway for bike lanes. The bridge regularly causes traffic congestion.
