The Grote Molen is a seesaw mill just south of Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk. The mill dates from the 17th century and was built for the drainage of the Grote Polder. The mill has been a national monument since 1968. The Rijnlandse Molenstichting came into possession of the Grote Molen in 1973 and restored the mill in 1975. The top of the mill was tarred black, but was later painted in its original blue-gray color. The mill is grinding in circuit, that is, the mill is no longer connected to the bosom, but only pumps the water around.
