The St. Martin's Basilica is located on Grote Kerkstraat in Venlo. The current floor plan of this three-nave Gothic hall church was created between 1410 and 1610. The tower has been rebuilt three times and now has a bulbous shape as its crowning feature.
On December 24, 2018, it was announced that the Martinus Church was awarded the honorary title of basilica minor by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments on behalf of Pope Francis. The elevation to a basilica took place during a proclamation celebration on April 28, 2019.
