The Wippersmolen in the Dutch municipality of Maassluis has been there since 1726 to drain the Sluispolder. The mill replaced a dilapidated seesaw mill in the same place. The paddle wheel was next to the mill and probably the Wippersmolen was built next to the original wheel of its predecessor. In the photo you can see from the shadow on the mill hull that it is flattened. This is where the wheel used to be.
