Erve Kots

Erve Kots is a historic building and an open-air museum with a pancake restaurant and event center in Lievelde, in the Dutch municipality of Oost Gelre in the Achterhoek region. The farm was inhabited by the Kots family until 1936. The farm was built around 1500 as a 'los hoes' (a type of farm). Later, Erve Kots became an inn. At the time of the Siege of Grol, Prince Frederick Henry of Orange and his State Army established their headquarters here. Around 1750, the farm was modernized, and a separating wall between the living area and the barn was constructed. Next to the large end or side doors stands a bronze statue of the founder of the open-air museum, Bernard Weenink, created by Joop Kruip. On the middle beam, between the end doors, there is an hourglass symbol, and on the roof, there is a gable sign consisting of two crossed horse heads. The barn faces the road so that farmer's wagons can drive in. The front house is located at the front. Here is the living area with the fireplace beneath the chimney. The extension, where the farmer's parents used to live, is referred to as the 'enskamer' (the common room). Furthermore, the farm has a girls' room, a weaving room, and a cellar.
