The military police barracks in 's-Heerenberg were saved from demolition thanks to the efforts of some Berghen residents such as Mr. Gijs van Elk and now stands as one of the most beautiful monuments in Bergh on the corner of Plantsoensingel-zuid and Emmerikseweg. The military police stationed in 's-Heerenberg also played an important role in Bergh's war history.
