The Sint-Oswalduskerk is located in Zeddam, a village in the municipality of Montferland located in the Gelderland Achterhoek. The church, located in the Bovendorp of Zeddam, is the Roman Catholic parish church of Zeddam. Zeddam is the only Dutch parish with Sint-Oswaldus as patron saint. [edit] Architecture
The church dates from 1891 and was designed by Gerard te Riele. It is a three-aisled hall church in neo-Gothic style. The predecessor was a two-aisled hall church, the tower of which was preserved. This tower dates largely from the 13th century and is in Romanesque style, with the exception of the upper part which dates from the 15th or 16th century and is in Gothic style. [edit] Organ
The current organ was restored to its current state in 1969 by organ builder Jos Vermeulen from Alkmaar. The original organ was placed in the former R.K. church, which was replaced by the current St. Oswaldus church around 1890. The original organ builder was the Nolting company. Organ builder Nolting was a prominent builder in those years, the organs of the churches in Angeren, Netterden and Gendringen and of the Broerenkerk in Nijmegen were also by his hand. In the organ of the Sint-Oswalduskerk there is still pipework from the organ from the Broerenkerk.Na the commissioning of the current church, the Zutphen organ builder N.S. Leyser took over the supervision and restoration of the organ. He modified the organ case, which can still be seen in the lower case. In the 20s of the last century, organ builder Valckx and Van Kouteren from Rotterdam provided the organ with an electric wind supply. Some registers were also adjusted. In 1950 another restoration took place. Among other things, a pneumatic pedal and regulators were fitted to balance the unstable wind supply. The restoration of the church in 1969 entailed the demolition of the organ gallery, which meant that the organ had to be relocated. Partly under the supervision of monumentenzorg, the current location has been determined. In essence, the dispostion of 1950 has been maintained. However, the compositions of some registers were adapted to the original example of Nolting.
