The Sunday rest was disturbed twice by the air raid alarm on September 17, 1944, but each time it was a false alarm. The people simply went to church when suddenly the air raid alarm sounded again. The churchgoers know nothing of the things that are to come that day. Not long after, the German barracks in Arnhem are bombed, and civilian casualties also occur.
