Tolhuys Coornmolen

The Tolhuys Coornmolen is a round stone flour mill with a thatched wooden roof and is located in Lobith in the Dutch province of Gelderland.De mill was built in 1888 to replace a burnt-down wooden belt mill. On July 18, 1930, the current mill caught fire, according to the Gorinchemsche Courant due to the heating of an axle. The fire brigade was unable to save him. The mill was repaired in such a way that motor-driven propulsion was possible, the wind propulsion was not restored. As a result, the mill has stood as a bare hull for many years. After 1960 the mill fell out of use. In order to preserve and restore the monument, the Friends of the Lobith Mill Foundation was established in 1987, which resulted in the mill being provided with a new roof, sails and movement in 1995. Due to new construction around the mill, part of the mill belt was excavated and replaced by a scaffolding, because otherwise the belt would reach into the garden of the adjacent house.
