De Munt, Muntwal 1-3 in 's-Heerenberg is a national monument. In 1346 the right to coinage that the lords of den Bergh held in fief from the bishop of Cologne was transferred from Gendringen to 's-Heerenberg. As early as 1473, the new monte stood where it still stands today.
After the coinage ended in 1582, De Munt fell into disrepair. Since then, the building has had a wide variety of uses. In the years 1968-1974, La Monnaie was restored. Currently, the old archive and library of Huis Bergh are stored here. This archive is, after that of the Royal Family, the largest house archive in our country.
