Aalten is a village and the largest place in the municipality of the same name in the eastern part of the Dutch province of Gelderland. As of January 1, 2021, the village of Aalten, located near the German border, had a total of 17,430 inhabitants. Aalten is situated in the eastern part of the Netherlands in the province of Gelderland in the Achterhoek, approximately in the center of the north-south line Lichtenvoorde – Bocholt and in the center of the west-east line Varsseveld – Winterswijk.
