The Prins van Oranje is a windmill in Buren, the Netherlands.
The Counts of Buren were the owners of this mill from 1716 to 1795. The County of Buren is now part of the Van Oranje-Nassau family. For this reason, His Majesty the King may call himself (among many other titles) 'Count of Buren'.
It is a round stone scaffold mill that is equipped as a flour mill.
It is not known how many predecessors this mill had on the city walls, but there were at least two (post mills), the first of which was destroyed by fire in 1575. A new mill was built in 1577, which was replaced by the current stone mill in 1716 due to its dilapidatedness.
In 1911 the mill burned down. Repairs followed with parts of the recently demolished Rotterdam oil mill De Reus. Comparison with photos from before the fire shows that the mill must have been raised a few meters at that time. Presumably this was intended to get a better windage.
