The windmill De Hoop is a windmill built in 1854. The scaffolding mill is located at 't Jach 3 in Culemborg. The mill was demolished at the beginning of the 20th century, after the tasks were taken over by a steam engine. For years, the remains of the mill were used as the home and warehouse of Aart Uittenbogert, trader in second-hand goods. Aart was better known in Culemborg as Aart the Jew. At that time, certainly not a badly intended nickname for such a trader. Around 1980, the municipality of Culemborg bought the mill hull to have it restored. In 1993 the mill was made grindable again with the help of parts of the interior of Oranjemolen in Lewedorp. The flight is equipped with an electric fence system for keeping out birds, in particular cormorants. De Hoop is equipped with two stone couples, with which animal feed is milled on a voluntary basis. The mill can be visited on Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00.
