De Blauwe Reiger is a flour mill built in 1856 that stands on the Waalbandijk in Haaften, a village in the Dutch municipality of Neerijnen. The mill replaced an earlier standard mill, which burned down in 1855. The mill has two pairs of grinding stones, with which grain is milled for animal feed on a voluntary basis. The wick cross is old Dutch. In 1955, De Blauwe Reiger was in disarray, when the owner decided to have it restored for economic reasons. De Blauwe Reiger has been owned by the municipality of Neerijnen since 1973 and can be visited on Saturdays. Together with the Protestant church and Goudenstein Castle, De Blauwe Reiger determines the horizon of Haaften. Because Haaften is located in a bulge of the Waalbandijk, these three can be seen from all kinds of directions at a distance of several kilometers, for example from the dikes in Waardenburg and Herwijnen and from the other side of the Waal from Zaltbommel to Nieuwaal; on a clear day even from the dike between Zuilichem and Brakel. On 25 November 2010, the mill received two new rods from the company Vaags.
