The windmill De Hoop is located at Havendijk 2 in Harderwijk. The tower mill was built as a replacement for an earlier mill from 1911 at Strandboulevard, which burned down in 1969. Although the plan for reconstruction at a different location came quickly, the rebuilding has taken a long time due to various circumstances. The new mill De Hoop has utilized the body of the Molen van Reerink in Oldenzaal. This was purchased in 1993 by the Harderwijk Mill Foundation. The mill was rebuilt by the firm Vaags from Aalten. In 1998, De Hoop was put into operation and in 1999 it was opened to the public. It can be visited on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and when the mill is operating.
