The watermill of Laag-Keppel is a grain mill in Laag-Keppel. Since the 14th century, there has been a watermill in the village. The current mill was built in the 19th century and was in operation until 1945. From that year, an electric motor provided the drive for the milling machinery. In 1968, a plan was made to restore the mill to its original operation, as the canalization of the Oude IJssel had resulted in insufficient drop to grind using water power. For this purpose, the Follega mill, a smock mill, was brought from Friesland to Laag-Keppel. The small smock mill lowers the water level in the mill pool by 1.5 meters. This solution works, but the capacity of this small smock mill is inadequate for the watermill to function optimally.
