"The Walderveense Mill" Walderveen

The Walderveen mill is a windmill built in 1895 by millwright Wijnveen from Voorthuizen (later Ede) on the site of a post mill. A secondhand mill, built in 1849 in Zaandam, was placed on top of the stone base. The mill is set up as a farmer's mill, which is evidenced by the staircase from the grinding room to the stone attic, located between the two grinding pairs, and the milling troughs that emerge just near the luiluik. In a farmer's mill, small batches were often ground while the farmer waited for the grain to be milled and took the flour right away. On one grinding pair, the grain was broken, and on the other, the broken grain was ground into flour. Arrangement of milling troughs. The floor of the milling attic was partially renewed in 1975. In 1566, there was already a post mill in Walderveen. The original miller's house at Renswoudsestraatweg 26, built in 1855 by Gerrit Wilbrink, is a hall farmhouse. The "new" miller's house with number 30 was built by Hendrik Mulder when he bought the post mill from Ruud Adema. Next to the mill, to the south, there has been a millworks that took over the mill's tasks after World War II. Since then, decline set in. Only in 1960 did the restoration, costing 29,267 guilders and completed in 1962, begin.
