The Bataaf is a corn mill that was built in 1801 at Bataafseweg 20 in Winterswijk and operated until 1958 for grinding grain. The mill owes its name to the Batavian Republic. It is a hill mill with a wooden octagonal structure covered with oak planks, which in turn are covered with roofing felt. The sail blades were equipped with Ten Have valves. The mill had two pairs of grinding stones. In 1964, the sails were removed from the mill and the operating machinery was taken out. Subsequently, the mill was used as a storage place. The mill was surrounded by silos from the now-closed family feed company Te Lintum. The cap was topped with a hoisting mechanism with iron rollers in wooden rolling carts.
