Leunen is a village in the municipality of Venray, in the Dutch province of Limburg. The village had 2,265 inhabitants as of January 1, 2021, spread over an area of 1003 hectares, making it the second-largest church village in Venray by population. Leunen may originate from the word "Loenen," which means "a beautiful quiet place by the water." Over the centuries, this has evolved into "Luenen" and eventually became Leunen. The street names in Leunen also have their origins, deriving from the meanings of neighborhoods and farms, or in some cases, from notable individuals or saints.
