Ederveen is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland, located in the municipality of Ede. Ederveen has 3,685 inhabitants. Ederveen is situated approximately between Renswoude in the northwest, Lunteren in the northeast, and De Klomp and Veenendaal in the south. The first constructions appeared around 1600. The area was used for peat extraction by people from Ede, and the first inhabitants were indeed poor peat cutters from that village. Ederveen would remain a poor and underdeveloped village for a long time, and only in the course of the nineteenth century were initiatives undertaken to combat poverty and delay. During and after World War II, a labor camp called Bruinhorst was located in castle Bruinhorst. After World War II, several animal feed factories were established in Ederveen.
