Paasloo is a village in the municipality of Steenwijkerland in the Dutch province of Overijssel. The village is located on the border with Friesland near the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, De Eese, and Giethoorn. It lies northwest of Steenwijk and east of Oldemarkt. On June 10, 1438, Bishop Rudolf van Diepholt granted 'the parishioners of Paesloe' the right to establish an independent office of schout. Over time, the name of the village has also been written as Paslo, Pasel, Paeschele, Paesel, and Paezeloe. Among the rights granted was the right to hold two yearly markets and a weekly market 'in the Oldemarkt'. In 1811, the parishes of Paasloo, IJsselham, De Hare, and Oldemarkt were merged into the municipality of Oldemarkt. Around 1840, Paasloo had 61 houses with 348 inhabitants. Paasloo would be incorporated into the municipality of IJsselham in 1973 and since 2001 into the current municipality of Steenwijkerland.
