Garsthuizen is a small dike village in the municipality of Eemsdelta in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. It is located near the Eemshavenweg. The village has approximately 180 inhabitants. Garsthuizen originated around the eleventh century on a meander of the Fivel in the former Fivelboezem. The first inhabitants settled on elevated living places that were raised on the sandy seepage ridges. These were connected over the course of the twelfth century by a continuous dike.
