Melick is a church village in Limburg on the right bank of the Roer, south of the city of Roermond. Melick belongs to the municipality of Roerdalen and has about 3,645 inhabitants. Traces of Roman settlement have been found in Melick. The Roman name for Melick was Mederiacum. In a deed of gift from 943, the village is referred to as Malialicol. The Heirbaan from Xanten to Heerlen passed through Melick.
