At 91.6 metres, the Hettenheuvel is the highest 'mountain' in the Montferland. The Hettenheuvelseweg runs from Zeddam to the top, and the Pieterpad also runs over the hill. The mountain is completely forested, with both deciduous and coniferous trees. To the north of the summit is a viewpoint "Kale Jakob" with a view towards the Veluwezoom. The Hettenheuvel is part of the Bergherbos nature reserve of Natuurmonumenten. To the east of the Hettenheuvel, along the road Zeddam - Kilder, a parking lot has been set up from where walking routes are indicated.
