The Warkense Molen is a thatched ground sailer. This milling flour mill can be found on the Lage Lochemseweg in Warken (near Warnsveld, municipality of Zutphen). The mill was built in 1878 by order of H.J. Nijendijk. In 1899 a petroleum engine was installed to be able to grind in windless conditions. In 1922 the drive was taken over by a crude oil engine. With the exception of the war years, hardly any more ground was done on the wind. In 1965 the mill was restored and raised with a stone base. The mill is equipped with the Fauel system on the inner rod. The mill is equipped with a pair of grinding stones, with which animal feed is milled on a voluntary basis. In January 1994, the Nijendijk family transferred the mill to the De Warkense Molen Foundation, which now manages the Warkense Molen. The mill is usually open to the public on Saturdays.
