The village of Einighausen is mentioned in ancient writings from the fifteenth century. The oldest spelling Eynichusen dates back to 1496. It appears that in 1299, a chapel was founded by Dirk van Einighausen in Etzenrade near Jabeek, who is said to have lived there in the castle and should descend from the owner with that name or from Einighausen. Einighausen was known in older documents as Enichoven, which must have meant "farm of the people of the person Eino." In the 16th century, it was mentioned as Einickhuysen and in 1566 as Eynehensen. The current German spelling dates from the so-called Gulik period.
