There was already a mill on this spot in the 17th century. Located directly on the water, very practical for the supply of grain and the disposal of flour products. The predecessor of the current mill burned down in 1910. In an attempt to stop the runaway blades, the brakes had caught fire. A second-hand polder mill (from 1776) was bought in Barsingerhorn near Schagen. At that time, many polder mills in North Holland had become superfluous due to the rise of the steam pumping station.
A total of 5 flour mills can be found along the Vecht transport road. The other windmills you see are polder mills.
This mill has been extensively restored a few times and the storage sheds around it have been replaced by a house. Every Saturday the mill runs and volunteer millers are happy to show you around. In the shop you can buy delicious mill products.
