Goudestein is now the country estate where the mayor and aldermen of the municipality of Stichtse Vecht have their offices. It was built in 1754 on the site of an old country estate built by Joan Huydecoper. Huydecoper was mayor of Amsterdam. He bought up all the land around his house and built small country estates here that he sold to his family and friends. He became the first project developer on the Vecht. Of that whole concentration of country estates, only a few remain. You will come across them on the way.
