The Wageningen Mountain is the southernmost part of the moraine of the Dutch region of Veluwe, located in the municipality of Wageningen.De Wageningen Berg was formed in the penultimate ice age by an ice lobe that pushed the soil material away from the Gelderse Vallei to two sides. On the west side the Grebbeberg was formed, on the east side the Wageningen Mountain. Because the soil was frozen, it was pushed up into sloping plates, which can still be found in the bottom of the moraines. Usually the forest on the moraines was already cleared in the Middle Ages and heathland occurred. In the High Middle Ages, there was a settlement, Oud-Wageningen, on the westernmost part of the Wageningen Mountain - the Westberg. The tuff chapel and some farm maps have been recovered. The whole, located along the Holleweg, is an archaeological monument. Along the flanks of the Wageningen Mountain, the arable land was laid out in the Middle Ages. There are also several burial mounds on the Wageningen mountain that are national monuments.
