In a stunning location in Nature Park Lelystad lies a small village called Swifterkamp. The village, currently consisting of two farms, a hunter-gatherer hut, and three outbuildings, exudes the atmosphere of long-lost times. Occasionally, it is inhabited by groups of adults and children who want to experience what it would be like to live in the New Stone Age; the time when hunter-gatherers gradually transitioned to a farming lifestyle (in central Netherlands about 6,300 years ago). Particularly in spring and summer, the temporary residents work hard in the settlement; they bake bread, make jewelry and tools, gather firewood, spin, weave, cook over an open fire, etc. Of course, there is also time to relax by a crackling campfire.
