Holwerd was a railway station on the former Leeuwarden – Anjum railway line. The station in Holwerd was opened on 2 October 1901 and closed on 1 December 1940. The station building from 1901 still exists, but is not recognizable as such due to various extensions. This station was built according to the Standard Type NFLS, which was mainly used for several railway stations in North Friesland. The station in Holwerd was part of the NFLS 2nd class type.
